Artist Kalman Radvanyi has developed the ancient art of marquetry to a level never seen before. A Radvanyi artwork has been described as a three dimensional "painting with wood" Kalman thrives on the most difficult depictions of gothic architecture.
Hundreds of species of wood are seamlessly cut into the perfect position. During the process the perfect timber must be chosen; the perfect knot, the perfect grain,the perfect shade all to accommodate the prestigious perfection that is the hallmark of a Radvanyi Artwork. Kalman Radvanyi is recognised worldwide for the beauty of his designs and meticulous skill with which he executes the fine details.
Quite simply there is not another person worldwide able to emulate the
level of marquetry skill, precision and design displayed in a Radvanyi artwork. Kalman envisions each design as a three-dimension sketch in his minds-eye "I perceive the finished image long before I begin the design;
every type of wood and shade. A painter has to mix paint to accommodate his ideas,'' whereas in a Radvanyi marquetry design the appropriate timber must be sourced to consummate a flawless result. Each wood piece is hand-cut using tools molded by Kalman himself. Kalman harmoniously combines ancient and modern techniques (many developed by Kalman) to reach the highest level of marquetry known today. Each Radvanyi Artwork can contain up to a thousand pieces of natural timbers sourced from all around the world. Each hand sculptured piece of wood is often delicate measuring only one tenth of an inch in thickness; requiring a caliber of precision only shown by Kalman Radvanyi. A Radvanyi Artwork can take up to six months to create and perfect and incorporates up to one hundred and thirty different species of natural timber; some of which are over a thousand years old. Recently Kalman has created a new collection of Radvanyi Artwork that contains wood timber, rare gemstones and even solid gold.
Kalman has again mastered the techniques requ ired to select, hand sculpt and place gemstones into a Radvanyi Artwork. Kalman has recently completed work that has included two hundred and forty-million-year-old Australian opals, Canadian Ammolite, Madagascar Natural Rubies, African Blue Diamonds, African Red Sapphires and
Bolivian Purple Amethysts. These days Kalman can
be found working in his studio with his two young girls
and encouraged by his wife. Kalman Radvanyi is an indubitable master of extraordinary creativity in both traditional and contemporary marquetry design. Kalman combines the subject matter, mathematics, perspective, sketching, molding and placement of the perfect timber
to create a unique masterpiece that can only be created
by this one remarkable artist.... Kalman Radvanyi.
